Our Northeast India saga began in 1975, with our arrival in Mizoram. While insurgency-related restrictions, confinements, and hardships were still the order of the day, our Brothers filled the vacuum left by the departure of the Canadian Holy Cross Missionaries, taking over the administration of three high schools and a printing press. Today, we have expanded our mission to the states of Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Tripura to meet the educational needs of local communities, especially in rural and underserved areas, by establishing schools, technical institutions, and inclusive schools for children with disabilities. We focus on academic excellence and the promotion of moral and ethical values, reflecting our commitment to fostering holistic development, spiritual growth, and community empowerment.
In Northeast India, the Brothers are managing 21 educational centres in 5 states. The head office-Provincial House is located at 10th Mile, G.S. road, Guwahati. Brothers are actively involved in the education mission of all children, taking special care of the children with disabilities. Montfort Centre for Education, Tura, Meghalaya and Monfort School, Guwahati, Assam are the two outstanding institutions for inclusive education, training and rehabilitation. In the year 2018 Montfort Centre for Education, Tura received National Award for promoting inclusive education.
